- Buxus leaves turning white
Hi, my potted Buxus microphyllias leaves have white spots. Also underneath, leaves have gone pale, almost white. They get morning sun and have been in these pots for around 2 years.
Hi Elizabeth,
You have a very lovely garden. The good news is your problem shouldn’t mean death to your plants if you manage to treat it. It looks like you might have a spider mite problem. They are often too small to see but the white patches on the leaves are where they have sucked the sap. The first thing is to avoid using a high nitrogen fertiliser as this can create a lot of tender leafy growth that the mites take advantage of. You can try treating the plant with a product with a horticultural oil in it, that will suffocate them. Ask at your garden centre for the best treatment available to you. I hope this helps.
Cheers Sarah
