When mowing, keep in mind that you do not cut the grass too short. Keep the grass long enough to shade the roots in hot months. In general, the lawn should not be shorter than 5 centimetres. Also, it is not advisable to let the grass grow higher than 6-7 centimetres.
Make sure that your lawn gets enough water to encourage root development. If rainfall is very low in the summertime, your lawn will appreciate an extra irrigation. Water as early as possible before the heat of the day sets off. GARDENA sprinklers and watering controls help to ensure that your lawn is watered evenly so that deep roots will grow everywhere.
When watering, make sure to water thoroughly over a longer period of time. It is not advisable to water just a little every day since then the grass roots will spread out to the side and will not grow deeply into the soil. A lawn with deep roots, however, is more resistant during dry periods.
