I have a question on the correct time period for pruning apple trees, and in particular apricot trees. I intend to cut them in February, before they come into bud. Would that be OK? I know that apricot trees can be a bit sensitive.

Depending on the winter weather situation where you live, the basic time period is correct. You can extend the appropriate interval for your apple trees from the middle/end of January to the beginning of March, depending on the weather conditions. Prune on frost-free days. It is crucial that you cut before the sap rises and budding begins. Apricots bloom in March, so you will have to prune them early on.
