A shared passion for having fun outdoors and nurturing young talent is the driving force behind GARDENA’s new partnership with Tennis New Zealand’s Tennis Hot Shots program.

Tennis Hot Shots is the national starter tennis program for New Zealand children aged three to twelve. Since launching in 2013 more than 72,000 kiwis have participated in the program run through schools, coaching programs, tennis clubs and centres nationwide.

Recognising that children learn best when they’re having fun, Tennis Hot Shots is centered around a ‘learning through play’ philosophy meaning children are taught the game of tennis rather than just the skills.

Using modified equipment – smaller courts, lighter racquets and super-hittable balls, players are actively engaged at all times learning and playing tennis with coaches, volunteers and parents who are trained to deliver various aspects of the program.

Recreation is also something valued by the team at GARDENA. Inventor of the original click-on hose fitting system that inspired a complete range of clever and easy to use garden and watering system solutions, GARDENA has helped Kiwis make the most of their leisure time for over 40 Years.

Parent company Husqvarna is excited about helping to grow one of New Zealand’s favourite sports from the grassroots up. “We’re proud to get behind Kiwi kids in pursuit of a healthy lifestyle through nurturing grassroots tennis.

There’s a natural fit between GARDENA and Tennis New Zealand in our desire to enjoy outdoor pursuits and just like nurturing a garden, kids need encouragement to foster their development,” said Dan Carman, General Manager Husqvarna New Zealand

Tennis New Zealand CEO Steve Johns agrees and welcomes the Husqvarna family to one of New Zealand’s favourite sports. “Both GARDENA and Tennis New Zealand champion quality and innovation and this partnership will really enhance the new and exciting Tennis Hot Shots Program,” said Johns.

Tennis Hot Shots is licensed to Tennis New Zealand from Program owners and creators Tennis Australia.
As the leading brand for high quality garden tools, GARDENA products are renowned for being intelligently simple. A determination to make things simple is a core element of the Tennis Hot Shots program, with an emphasis on learning the game of tennis rather than just the skills with four development phases designed for the age and stage of every child, preparing them for a lifetime love of tennis.
